Forwarding services, as you can probably guess, just forward your email to your current email address. They do not provide you with a new email account, but rather an 'alias'. Think of it as a 'PO Box' where mail addressed to you at 'PO Box Richy C' gets redirected to your home address of 'Richy C, Beebware, Huncote...'.
If you have an email address which is difficult to remember or you just don't like it (how many people really like being richard94835@your.isp.example.com) then a Forwarding address is for you. You can usually recognise mail forwarded through a email forwarding service as it may be tagged with advertisements at the top, bottom or both of the message.
